Discord Cancels NFT and Cryptocurrency Plans

The rumors for Discord planning to step-in for NFT and cryptocurrencies was leaked earlier this week when a survey was sent to Discord users regarding NFT. The users reported something was cooking and Discord is planning to invest in NFT and cryptocurrencies. The CEO of Discord, Jason Citron tweeted an screenshot of unreleased integration of two cryptocurrency wallet apps. Later, the official statement was made and they announced the features were for “Hack Week” and are not in active development for the app.

Jason Citron, made things more clear with his another tweet:

Thanks for all the perspectives everyone. We have no current plans to ship this internal concept. For now we're focused on protecting users from spam, scams and fraud. Web3 has lots of good but also lots of problems we need to work through at our scale. More soon.

Discord has cancelled its NFT and cryptocurrency plan. However, we might get to see it stepping-in in the near future.
